A new ICS theme is released for Arkas 1.5 by John (who earlier ported MIUI Â )
It will also work on 1.6,1.7 or Perseus XL/Perseus S hopefully

On my Galaxy 551, tested this theme with the roms Arkas 1.7 and 1.6 and the two Roms application (Contacts) didn’twork, don’t know why but it didn’t work … 🙂

Sorry for double post but skilled I am using Arkas 1.7 and recently my usb mode stopped working. Whenever I plug in my usb cable and attach phone it keeps charging but no usb mode pops up.
I tried 3 different cables on different pc and ports. Phone is also not getting detected in odin by download mode so I can’t reflsh rom. Any ideas?
hmmm.
Since Download Mode is independent of ROMs ,most probably your micro USB port must have damaged 😦 .
Ii is probably good to invest in a BlueTooth dongle or Wifi dongle for File transfer ..
Or get mUSB port repaired .
I can theorize on a method to flash different rom but it is a theory .
It may damage the phone .
Well i just wanted to flash the new ICS theme by John but i am reluctant cuz if something goes wrong i cant reflash my ROM back.
It was working perfectly and used to pop up wen i restarted the phone but one day it itself stopped working all of sudden.
Secodnly some apps like Hexamob Recovery cant work as they cant find the phone root path which again was working perfectly fine before.
Will repair usb port as last resort, i am fine with the ROM until now and found no need to reflash but ICS theme is mouth watering 😉
umm
extract the framework and apps .
Use WiFI or BT to transfer the apps to SD card .
Use adb shell to transfer the apps to /data partition temp .
assign chmod 644 permissions to all the apps/framework
now stop the device and copy the stuff to /system/framework and /app
reboot device …
If you have any problems ,I can create Arkas Restore Zip for Stock Samsung Recovery ..
It might help ..
skilled please create one for me i dont like to go to stock recovery through whole procedure of flash stock rom and blah blah blah

Havent had any feedback from anyone regarding ICS on Arkas 1.7, jus read the comments and saw contacts apk doesnt work.. So i think i wont flash the theme then.. too risky. I dont want Samsung guys to mess the phone at service center.

It works for Arkas 1.5 flawlessly since was made and tested on 1.5
You wont belive this but Usb mode started working now.. I just cleaned usb port with lil bit alchohol now and it works 🙂

Flashed Arkas 1.6 and its taking too much RAM.
Even at idle RAM clocks 160mb so if i start more then 2 apps the other close.
Is there a way i can get rid of this?
Secondly if u can make a update.zip so i can replace the status bar with multitoggle that was present in 1.7 and use it in 1.6 would be great 🙂

Sorry for late repy but I didn’t try on 1.5
Apparently somehow the root are is getting corrupted or something.
After the Usb mode came up the Rom was working stable for quite some time, I replaced the stock launcher with the modded one from John it was working fine too.
Yesterday I tried to connect usb again but it won’t come up, then I installed ICS theme but I had backed up my framework apps and later when I dint like it I tried to replace them suing root explorer but it won’t work because Superuser app stopped working.. it won’t come up..
I tried to update the binaries but the binaries were not downloading too.. so I downloaded the zip file from here and flashed the su app in recovery and after reboot it started woorking but the binaries still don’t download.
Althoug root explorer started working now and I cud replace the ics theme apps.. the toggle bar is now working fine with the modded launcher but superuser binaris won’t update.. tried the update fixer from market it says everything is fine.. but when I use hexamob recovery it doesn’t show phone root memory neither thee sd card directory. USb mode is working now but its shaky so I guess it ain’t hardware problem. Strange now..

I find it more reliable over Superuser .
Any option to install via CWM recovery in arkas 1.7 ? i tried.. its not working
you can’t get it through cwm because it can’t mount rfs based /system which is needed to replace files
I did it.. copied and replaced the files to the destination using root explorer and restarted….
You have to fix permission to 644 before restarting …
I did so.. but there is problem with twframework-res.apk . the contacts wont work if we replace it.
on GB ,twframework is a pointless file dont replace it …..
on Froyo it was necessary …

I dont see the need to use twframework-res.apk or Contacts ..
I had ICS themed Dialer .,Will try to search it on computer ..
had 50 or so versions and only one of them worked ..
Dont remember if it is on Perseus S or not ..
The reason behind theming twframework-res is that many app has relation with it like lext color of many apps is related to the colors.xml of twframework
i think you are talking about the dialer which is in arkas 1.6, ya i am going to use that for making ics dialer 😀

Copy to /system/app/ and fix the permission to 644 and reboot .
